Kling V3 Motion Control is Kling AI's video model in its motion-transfer mode. It drives a still character image with the motion from a reference video, so your subject performs that action. Generation runs in the background, so the clip appears when it is ready rather than immediately.

What it's good at

Kling V3 Motion Control takes the movement from footage you already have, and puts it on your character. It suits:

  • Exact motion: the movement comes from footage, not from a description of it.
  • Character performance: a still character takes on the action in the video.
  • Motion that is hard to describe: complex or subtle movement transfers directly.

For other kinds of control, use Kling V3 Text-to-Video for a prompt alone, Kling V3 Image-to-Video to animate one still, or Kling V3 Omni for multi-reference work.

Inputs

Motion Control needs a reference image and a reference video.

  • Reference image: the still character to animate. Add a JPG or PNG file, or give a link to one. The file must be 10 MB or less. Each side must measure 300 to 65,536 px.
  • Reference video: the footage that supplies the motion. Add an MP4 or MOV file, or give a link to one. The clip must run 3 to 30 seconds, and the file must be 100 MB or less. Image Orientation limits the clip to 10 seconds.

Settings

  • Orientation: chooses which source sets the orientation of the character. Choose Image Orientation or Video Orientation. Default: Image Orientation. It also sets the reference video's length cap: 10 seconds on Image Orientation, 30 on Video Orientation.
  • Mode: chosen per generation. Default: Standard. It changes quality and time. It does not change your prompt or the other settings.
    • Standard: the faster, standard-quality option. Choose it while you iterate.
    • Pro: raises quality for a little more time. Choose it for the final render.
  • Duration: not a control here. The clip takes its length from the reference video, rounded to the nearest second, and the pill reports the result once a video is in the slot. Billing counts each second, so the reference video's length is what sets the cost.
  • Keep original sound: keeps the audio from the reference video. Default: on. It also follows the clip you upload: a reference video with no audio turns the toggle off by itself.
  • Prompt: steers the style and the detail on top of the transferred motion. Up to 2,500 characters. A prompt is optional here, because the reference video supplies the motion.

Practical tips

  • Start from a clean character image and a clear reference video. The action in the video is what transfers.
  • Match the framing of the character image to the motion in the video where you can.
  • Trim the reference video to the length you want. Its length is the clip's length, and billing counts each second.
  • Describe the atmosphere and the style in the prompt. The reference video already supplies the motion.
